There are still waters that are virtually undiscovered and teem with very special fish. Samoa is one of those places. These are truly virgin waters that are home to massive blue marlin, yellowfin tuna, wahoo, dogtooth tuna, sailfish and dorado.
Marlin are caught all year long, and Cody’s friend, Captain Chris Donato and his boat, “Southern Destiny”, know just what to do and where to go. Join Day One Outdoors on a an adventure that will be remembered the rest of your life. This trip will be hosted by Outdoor GPS TV show host, Cody Herman, who will personally oversee and join you for this once-in-a-lifetime fishing experience. Cody’s worked with Captain Donato for the best dates for best fishing in this island paradise.
Marlin are the pinnacle game fish of the world. Anglers globally dream of one day seeing a massive billfish come in the spread and strategically decide which bait to attack. The reason this is a dream for most anglers is because these pelagic predators are quite elusive.
To enjoy a consistent catch rate an angler needs to travel away from the well-known, “name” marlin grounds like Kona, The Great Barrier Reef, Cabo San Lucas and others and to more remote, rarely fished getaways teeming with feed and big game species.
Certainly, these destinations still harbor worthwhile fishing opportunity but there’s better…much better, if you’re willing to travel.
Samoa breaks the mold. With only one true charter boat in the fleet and thousands of square miles around the islands to explore, Samoa will soon be recognized as the next great marlin Mecca. Big blue marlin are available every month of the year with plenty of other billfish, yellowfin tuna, wahoo, dogtooth tuna, sailfish and dorado to keep an angler busy.
These are truly virgin waters with undiscovered sea mounts, walls and temperature breaks beaconing to see their first spread pulled across the surface. Within six months of arriving in Samoa, Captain Chris Donato and his boat, “Southern Destiny”, had landed multiple blue marlin in the 500 to 850 pound range, wahoo in excess of 90 pounds and yellowfin tuna in the 200 pound class. Captain Donato had hooked and lost several fish he believed to be over the coveted 1,000 pound mark. It didn’t take long for Captain Donato to land Samoa’s first grander blue marlin just months after shipping his Cabo 43 to the South Pacific.
