This 2-day event will be held the weekend before the August 1st opener to ensure you are prepared before the season kicks off. On July 29th & 30th, attendees will be given detailed information ranging from vessel safety to the importance of tides, following the fish throughout the day and what gear to use to be successful. With over 1 Million Salmon returning, this is your opportunity to fill the freezer with high quality fish for the year while catching hard fighting Salmon!

Saturday, July 29th

Join the Northwest Anglers Convention in the massive “Warrior” lecture hall at Camp Rilea to help educate us all on the upcoming season! This day is dedicated to the class room. There will be 8 hours of seminars filled with important safety and technique specific information with plenty of time to ask questions of the speakers. Every Attendee will be given a grab bag full of gear, tackle, coupons and discount codes!

Sunday, July 30th

Attendees will have the option of bringing their own vessel or riding along with a guide! Those bringing boats will be able to mark waypoints, create trails on their units for where to cross over the sand bars and mark navigational hazards. For attendees in the guide boats, feel free to bring along a handheld GPS to do the same! We will be meeting at the West Mooring Basin as our launching point. During your class on the water, we will be discussing popular locations, what gear to use, important depth contours as well as what tides these spots are ideal to fish throughout the Season! We will start by discussing the ship anchorage on the Oregon side above the bridge, then take each group across Desdemona Sands to mark the safe crossing area. From there we will cover the “Ship Wreck” to the “Church Hole” on downriver to Chinook, Ilwaco and the Checkerboard. Next, we will make our way back towards East Basin by discussing the Red Line, Hammond and wrapping up the class with the Green line below the Astoria Bridge along the Oregon shore. This is very specific and detailed information you won’t want to miss. Bring your note pad and a camera!
